The Book Shelf brings to life an everyday object in the form of a new practical
design, symbolising something greater than the object itself. The super-sized book plays with the roles of form and function and an element of surprise. It creates a library
of knowledge and fairytales, representing a door into your own imagination and creativity, reproducing the feeling of immersion in itself.
Other than the original wooden Book Shelf, The X Book Shelf is made of X-Board. A breakthrough in lightweight, strength and stability, recycled X-Board is an environment
friendly, high-strength corrugated fibreboard, utilising fibrous waste from recycled kraft paper and sugar-cane bagasse. XBoard offers a VOC-free alternative to MDF, particle board and petrochemical-based foamed-core boards. Its unique high-crush strength paper core is manufactured from post-consumer recycled paper and sugar cane waste. No wax or polyethylene is used in the manufacturing process. The impression of the pages is created by a high-res 3D print.
The X Book Shelf is 100% customisable as the owner can decide what will be printed on the cover and back (children themes, favorite book titles, photos etc,...).
Like its wooden brothers and sisters, The X Book Shelf comes on castors and can be easily moved around the home or office.
Unlike its wooden brothers and sisters, The X Book Shelf does not fully open up to
180° due to the design of its back. It opens and closes just the same though and serves as a great place to store your favorite books!
